ZARA Redesign

As a member of the Creative X club, our team set out to redesign the ZARA app to enhance its functionality and navigation. Our primary goal was to create an app experience that closely mimics the in-store shopping feel, making it more accessible and user-friendly.

 

To achieve this, we focused on redesigning the homepage and product display pages, and introduced a hamburger menu to streamline navigation and improve usability.

Research:

Our research began with examining the current functionality of ZARA's mobile app, identifying key usability issues:

  • Lack of feedback on the product display page, confusing users on navigation

  • Absence of a hamburger menu, hindering seamless shopping

  • Inarticulate shopping section names

  • Difficult navigation on the home screen, adding unnecessary steps to the user journey

To gain a deeper understanding of ZARA app users, we conducted extensive user research through surveys and interviews

Ideation:

We analyzed user feedback using affinity mapping to identify key improvements for the app. This led to new features, better engagement, and retaining popular elements.

We then used the "How Might We?" exercise to address user issues, focusing on making the app more user-friendly and inclusive.

Lastly, we sketched ideas and created digital wireframes in Figma to bring our vision to life.

Conclusion:

Our team learned that comprehensive planning is crucial for navigating the design process effectively. Flexibility and openness to change foster innovation and teamwork. User testing is vital for refining designs based on actual feedback, and creativity leads to unique and impactful solutions.

Problem: 

We identified usability issues in the ZARA app that affected navigation and overall shopping experience.

 

Our team began with in-depth research, studying successful apps with clean, user-friendly interfaces. This inspired our complete overhaul of the ZARA app, aiming to enhance its functionality and user experience.

Goal:

Our mission was to significantly transform the ZARA app's user interface and functionality.

 

We aimed to address existing usability issues and set a new standard for online shopping, making the app a memorable and enjoyable platform for customers.

Solution:

Our redesigned solution focused on improving the app interface by ensuring that all sections are always visible for easy access, adding a carousel feature for simpler product viewing, and introducing intuitive icons for smooth navigation.
